Camping ahead of the Storm

Wet autumn weather arrived with Storm Amy, ending the streak of lovely late-summer we’d been having. Fixardag, our apartment collective cleaning/ maintenance day, was rescheduled due to the coming storm. But the worst seemed to have passed by late afternoon, so Bryant and I headed to Trelleborg for dinner at Stulna Bestick Stolen Cutlery. We had a nice meal and the drive wasn’t difficult, even with a bit of wind and rain. We did not get to enjoy the waterfront or the ocean views. About all we could see was the ferry, which was probably unable to leave the harbor due to the tropical storm.

Fortunately last weekend’s camping trip was timed perfectly! Bryant and the girls enjoyed overnight canoe camping up at Lake Immeln with the Gouldeks, while I stayed in Lund for the Harvest Festival. H packed bananas and chocolate spread which became a new favorite handpie combo. Ebba was busy making sure to fulfill the canoe activity requirements for school. They won the impromptu canoe race back to the docks (by a very close margin) and there was a cinematic moment with some ducks who were in the way. This could have been due to good luck from the water gods as a backpack had been inadvertently sacrificed to the lake earlier that day.

I contest the “winning” of the canoe race as no finish line was determined and we pulled into the harbor first, before having to stop so as not to crash into the dock!
