The Minnesota No(ICE)s

  • More Motorcycle Nostalgia

As I mentioned elsewhere, I have a pretty long history with motorcycles. Well, I found some old snaps of the ’89 FZR400 that I thought I’d share. Here’s the trimmed rear with the then-sweet Deltabox swingarm and the track rear sprocket: And here is a little more of the rear of the bike. Ohlins rear…

  • First step in Bryant’s quest for a Spanish adventure!

MN passport office. We arrived 10 minutes early and were first in line. By the time the office opened the line was 26 people long. Our paper processing took an entire hour; good thing we got there early! Yikes!

  • An Outlandish Evening

with Diana Gabaldon in Denver. Excellent book talk by one of my favorite authors. She’s a fascinating person with fans who are also an interesting and entertaining bunch. Annie, Amy and I were amazed at the rock star atmosphere; Celtic music, wine, men in kilts… what a night!

  • Dolphins and Snorkling

  • Florida Keys

Hemingway house, Key West, 6 toed cat cemetery, Kapok tree…

  • Spring Break in the Everglades

A rather unusual destination but a fantastic place to visit. You really do see tons of wildlife right up close but in the wild. Bromeliads, a manchineel tree (tree of death), it’s sap -and fruit can kill you, crocs and alligators together- the only place in the world that happens, unusual birds, mangroves galore and…

  • The Howlands are DESSERTING us!

Here are the neighbors at our house, wishing them a SWEET farewell. Sadly, the Oliver gang is parting, though everyone is still in mpls so we’ll still see each other.

  • Bike tweaks and bar heaven

As I might have mentioned, I had the Soma re-painted. Actually, I had the excellent dude Anthony Paints do a full media blast and powder-coat of this sweet creamy green color. Frame, fork, stem and rack all got the electro-static love. Additionally, I had tried a North Road bar, but it was a little narrow.…

  • Earth Day

Here are the kids, doing their part for the planet, digging out       the loose batteries that had been spilled into the recycling bin. Thankfully, it wasn’t as big a job as it first seemed…As long as you have kids who think it’s cool to crawl into the giant recycling bin. You’re welcome, Earth.

  • Mental Health Day

The whole family is suffering from allergies or spring colds, so I let the kids stay home today. No screen time. We baked muffins and played games and now they’ve made a play dough sushi and pasta restaurant. I think it’s good for them. Schools gets more than a little crazy this time of year! …
