The Minnesota Noices

The Autumn Shift

Ebba volunteered at the Katte (Katedralskolan) Open House, helping to set up and answer questions about the art program. I popped in for a tour since I’d never been in the art studio/tower room before. It’s a very cool space. We’ve been seeing a lot more of her friends around the house lately, especially this guy, Ebba’s new bf!

Bryant has been traveling for work and has had some interesting experiences – twice to Bangalore, then Älmhult (Sweden but requires travel), and Warsaw, where he gave a keynote at the Masters and Robots tech conference there. The venue was quite big and so pro that he had to have some stage makeup. It was subtle but reduces glare on camera. His presentation for the huge audience went well, though hopefully next time it won’t have to be in person. Travel has been tiring and often seems to mean more bouts of illness. He still has a few more trips before the current busy travel window ends; Madrid this week, then Amsterdam and Älmhult again.

Bryant and I finally got around to visiting the Clarion Skybar, which has changed over a couple of times since our arrival. It’s currently an Italian restaurant and more accessible for lunch. Based on my Lund Skybar experience, the views are much better in daytime because after dark the glare from lights inside interfere. It’s small so reservations are a must. The menu is simple and the food is pretty good, though the view is the main reason to go. We had a nice table and views are great all the way around. On a clear day I’m sure it’s fantastic because even on a cloudy day it was interesting to get the birds-eye perspective on Malmö.

The crisp Fall weather has shifted to cool, rainy gray which is pretty typical this time of year, but the occasional sun feels extra special when it happens. We lucked out with a nice window for picking apples at Solnasgård. As dark comes earlier, we start getting out the hygge making candles, lanterns, blankets and cushions. We rebooted Cooking Club, starting with an Orange theme at my place (spicy sweet potato haloumi soup, carrot orange salad, cheese with fig jam, pumpkin cheesecake) Steph’s choir had a concert for peace at one of the cozy churches, and it’s good to have these little events on the calendar to stop me from going to bed at 8 pm!
