The Minnesota Noices

Seventeenth birthday adventures

Ebba’s friend, a neighbor from the Berkeley days, came to spend a week with us. It was a whirlwind of travel and adventure mixed with lots of down-time for gaming and catching up. For a variety of pesky reasons, the eldest Noiceling and I missed a lot of the fun but luckily Bryant was able to spend time transporting the friends as needed. He accompanied them to Stockholm and caught up on some of the must-see sites that he missed on previous trips. Closer to home, they were able to get around Skåne and Copenhagen on their own by bus and train, one of the perks of our location. The weather was mostly decent and photos indicate that a great time was had by all!

Stockholm

The whirlwind wind-down to school continued with birthday tickets to Way Out West, a music festival in Gothenburg. This time it was Alice, a Swedish friend who joined Bryant and our girls for the event, culminating with Chappell Roan to close out the festival. Everyone was impressed with the concert and pleased with the event as a whole. The food was good, they found fun upcycled merch, and the weather was pretty good.

On the way to Göteborg

Ebba’s much celebrated 17th birthday arrived with one last big hurrah in the form of a party with friends at our place. The group played board games and enjoyed chocolate cake from Costco, fancied up with raspberry sauce and whipped cream.

As usual summer really flew by, but we feel like we soaked up as much sun and fun as possible this year. And our youngest started her final year of school (year 2 of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program) on a high note!
