Finding fun in November can be a challenge. This year for my birthday I registered for a painting class taught by my friend, Ghada, at The Art Lounge in Lund.
We meet either at her home studio or at Ateljé Råbygård, a sort of arts colony on an old farm site on the outskirts of Lund. When we lived at the Persikevägen house we would walk or ride the trail out there most weekends for breakfast at the coffee shop/bakery on site. That has since closed but the space is still used by artists like Ghada. Bryant will soon be taking a ceramics class there!
Here are some of my paintings from Ghada’s acrylics lessons… still working on one.

Birthday celebrations started early with a trip to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art near Helsingør. This time I went with Erin and Melissa and by train, a route that was new to me. The day was as nice as we could hope for in November and we were able to walk the grounds and get to and from the train without weather hindering us. We lingered over lunch at the museum restaurant, which did not disappoint. Because it was my third visit I didn’t take many photos but with new exhibits there was plenty to see, with an autumnal backdrop this time.

Birthday fun continued with Andrea inviting me to lunch of my choice. We went to Ihsiri Thai. The eldest baked me an egg white butter cake with Italian buttercream icing. It was delicious and also too rich (my fault for choosing such a buttery combo) and I was glad that my Afternoon Tea party offered more savory options. We celebrated with a few of my friends at The Lodge, an American themed spa hotel near Lund that none of us had visited. It’s at the top of a big hill and we picked an icy day to make the trek up and down, but the view was great. The menu was rather unusual but very tasty with lots of locally produced ingredients.

The youngest was home with a cough but we brought her some leftovers and she loved the raspberry mouse with a chocolate brownie filling. I received a lovely gift set of lotions, creams and potions with a subtle, light scent, which I love and rarely find with scented products. It’s by a famous Swedish actress so I can find it again when I need more. And the fun isn’t finished because another gift was an invitation to craft night. We have a great evening planned for this Friday, along with the infamous lighting of the Christmas tree in the main square. Fifty-five is off to a fabulous start!
