It’s been a few hectic weeks since my last post. I’ve been to Minnesota and back to Sweden, celebrated Thanksgiving with family and friends (3X) made basic preparations to list the Scheffer house for short term bookings (packing, unpacking, sorting, IKEA. IKEA and more IKEA to furnish and decorate, multiple DMV and Saint Paul Licensing office, etc) and still my family and friends are finishing up lots of items on the list, had our passport renewal visit at the US embassy in Copenhagen, and squeezed in some advent fun and VinterLund activities!

The new house is near the historic Highland Water Tower in Saint Paul, just a few blocks from my brother and his family! I met a few neighbors who seem very nice; Gloria is Swedish American and her dad grew up in Simrishamn! I didn’t take many photos since I was focused on getting everything situated, but there will be professional photos taken for the listing so I will post then. We are now waiting for the license and other onboarding tasks.

Once back from MN it was a race to make our appointment at the US embassy in Denmark for passport renewal, required for Bryant’s next work permit. This is VERY IMPORTANT. Of course, despite leaving plenty early, we were still rushing to get there on time and did not realize that we would have to wait outside, in the freezing cold, even though we did make it on time. It was kinda miserable and more intense than we anticipated. I guess security protocol was high alert and therefore things were slow and tedious, but we were able to start the process. No one had the energy to enjoy Copenhagen after, so we headed home. Luckily I remembered that the airport (one of the 4 places we had to change trains) has a pretty decent version of the famous danish hotdogs so we got some en route to Lund

My friend Andrea was inspired to DIY some holiday decorations with natural materials so we hiked out near Lomma to gather a few sticks and such.

Lil has been working on the Year 5 Personal Project. It’s been delivered to school and now she has to write a 16 page paper about it. More to come when she presents it, I’m sure.

And suddenly it’s Lucia Day. This morning I met my friends for the concert at Lunds Domkyrka at 6:30 only to find that my distant cousin, Esther, was singing in the Lucia Choir! I had a nice chat with her parents before heading to Patisseriet for Lussekatter (saffron buns) and coffee with the crew. Glad Luciamorgon!
