The Minnesota Noices

The Graduate’s Ball

There was lots of last minute drama and running around, but our eldest had a really great time at Katedralskolans ball!

I accompanied her to the “student castle” at the university to serve as shoe assistant (she was late and could not run in heels) and discovered that all the parents were dressed up and waiting outside the red carpet area to watch the champagne promenade, so I joined them in spite of my casual attire. Of course the focus was on the graduates who lined up to be photographed and sip champagne.

I finally ran into a few parents that we know and had a nice time catching up and getting the scoop about what to expect for the actual graduation day “Studenten”

Then the kids went inside to the banquet hall where they ate and listened to speeches for FOUR hours!!! For those who don’t speak Swedish it was super boring, but they were able to choose their table groups so it was ok. And she got a very nice shout-out from the IBDP class speaker! We might have some video of that later. The formal dancing began at 11:00 and our party animal made it home at 3:30. Her poor mama couldn’t sleep until she was home safe. But I was pleased that she had such a good time since she doesn’t generally enjoy that type of socializing. She noted that the noise level monitor stayed red almost the entire night 😱💥🎧 luckily she had air pods that helped reduce the sound. She slept much of today and will most likely be fully recovered by tomorrow.
